Philippine diplomatic missions are cautioning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the UAE following the arrest of two Filipino nationals for social media posts related to regional conflicts. The incident highlights the strict laws governing online expression in the United Arab Emirates, particularly concerning political or conflict-related content. OFWs are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution with their online activities to avoid legal repercussions, including fines, imprisonment, or deportation.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has assisted over 4,600 Filipino workers in the Middle East. 380 Filipinos are seeking repatriation and assistance to return home. The DMW is actively providing support and resources to Filipinos facing challenges in the region.

Filipino sailors are experiencing fear and boredom while stuck in the Hormuz Strait. The situation raises concerns about the well-being of OFWs in high-risk maritime zones. Families in the Philippines may face financial and emotional strain due to the uncertainty.
